Assistant Professor in Biochemistry

Job Description

The Assistant Professor of Biochemistry will have the key task of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical students, carrying out academic research, and leadership roles within the department of Biochemistry. The duties involve planning the curriculum, academic guidance, supervision in the laboratory, and being an active participant in institutional growth. Aspirants should have an MD or DNB in Biochemistry and also one year experience as a Senior Resident in a Medical College recognized by the National Medical Commission. The aspirants should have permanent registration under the Kerala State Medical Council (TCMC) or under the Council for Modern Medicine. Rule 10(a)(ii) of KS & SSR is applicable. Candidates with qualifications that are accepted as equivalent by orders of the government are also qualified. Appointees are required to serve 4 years of obligatory service in Defence or Defence-related streams within the initial 10 years of service, unless exempted on grounds of disability or age over 45. The job requires intense subject matter expertise, academic rigor, and compliance with ethical norms as designated by the UGC and institutional guidelines.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must possess MD/DNB in Biochemistry, one year of experience as Senior Resident in a National Medical Commission recognized Medical College after post-graduation, and hold permanent registration under Kerala State Medical Council (TCMC) or Council for Modern Medicine. Rule 10(a)(ii) of KS & SSR is applicable. Qualifications declared equivalent by government orders will also be accepted. Appointees must complete 4 years of mandatory service in Defence or related fields within the first 10 years of service, unless exempted due to disability or being above 45 years of age.
